The NHL brings more action on Thursday night as the Capitals will clash with the Edmonton Oilers at the at Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta. The Capitals won both meetings between these teams last year.
The Capitals won their last game against the Canucks with a score of 5-2 and on the other side, the Oilers suffered a home defeat against Pittsburgh in overtime.
Washington Capitals Form
The Capitals are on a tour in Canada. Their schedule was a game in Vancouver and now Edmonton. After that, they have games against Calgary and Montreal. They started their Great White North campaign with a solid 5-2 win against the Canucks. Now they will aim to beat the Oilers, a team that is facing several challenges lately. The Russian duo Alex Ovechkin and Evgeny Kuznetsov will lead the offence and as they have scored 13 between team so far this season.
Washington enters this game on the 1st spot in the league in scoring, putting up an average of 4.25 goals per game. At the defensive end of the ice, they are placed on the 24th spot in goals allowed, letting in an average of 3.63 goals per game.
Edmonton Oilers
The Oilers did not have a good start to the season as they have lost their first two games. They were able to improve but they made a step back as they have lost the last two games. They will need to improve if they want to get something out of this game. If they are able to win against the champions that can be a huge confidence boost for them and can possibly turn the tide of the season for them.
On the offensive side of the game, the Oilers are placed on the 24th spot in the league in scoring, putting up an average of 2.57 goals per game. On the defensive side of the game, they are in the 23rd place in the league as they have been conceding an average of 3.57 goals per game.
The Capitals are one of the better teams this season. They played well so far and in their last game, they were able to show their class. The Champions will aim to win as much as possible against the Canadian teams in their next games. On the other side, the Oilers are still struggling and I can’t see them getting anything from this game. Go for the Capitals in this one.
