The NHL brings more action on Wednesday as the Toronto Maple Leafs will visit the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts to face the Boston Bruins in the final game of this playoff battle. The Maple Leafs were able to bounce back as they won game six by a score of 3-1 to even the series at 3-3.
Toronto Maple Leafs Form
The Maple Leafs were in a solid form during the final phase of the regular season as their record was 10-4. Nevertheless, they did not have a good start in this series as they lost the first two games of it and were outscored 12-4 in those games. Yet, they come back from the dead as they won three of the last four games in this series to tie it up at 3-3 and force a game-seven. However, they face a hard task as the Bruins are a solid team at home. Toronto will go into this game on the wings of their two wins in Boston this year which will give them an additional level of confidence. The Maple Leafs away form has been hot and cold as their record is 21-23 for the season and they have averaged 3.20 goals per game and have allowed 3.09 goals per game in those games.
On the offensive side of their playoff form, the Maple Leafs are placed on the 9th spot in the league in scoring an average of 2.67 goals per game, converting on 23.1% of their chances. At the defensive part of their game, their form has been below average during the playoffs as they are placed on the 11th spot in goals allowed, letting in an average of 3.50 goals per game, allowing the opposing teams to convert on 31.6% of their chances.
Boston Bruins Form
The Boston Bruins dropped their form in the final phase of the regular part of the season which resulted in them missing the top seed. The Bruins have lost the last two games in these series and are now in a game-seven and anything can happen in those games. The Bruins started the playoffs in a stunning form as they were able to score 12 goals in the first two games. However, it seems that that offensive firepower is missing as they scored only nine goals in their last four games. Boston has been in a strong form at their home ground which can be observed through their 30-14 record for the season. The Bruins have averaged 3.68 goals per game and have allowed 2.55 goals per game in those games.
On the offensive side of the game, the Bruins have been in an average form during the playoffs as they are 6th in scoring at 3.50 goals per game, converting on 31.6% of their chances. At the defensive side of the game, they are placed on the 8th spot in goals allowed, letting in an average of 2.67 goals per game, allowing teams to convert on 23.1% of their chances.
The seventh game in the playoffs is always tricky. Anything can happen. The Maple Leafs showed great character to come back in this series, but I think that they will not be able to win this last game. And although the Bruins have a bad record against the Leafs this season, I still take into consideration that they are a very strong team at home. I think that their offensive firepower will be back on track for this crucial game. Go for the Bruins in this one.
