The NHL is back in action today as the Philadelphia Flyers will clash with the New York Islanders. In-Game 5 Tuesday night, the Flyers staved off elimination by taking a 4-3 overtime win.
Philadelphia Flyers Form
The Flyers have been playing well in their last two games. Moreover, it seems that their offensive side of the game has significantly improved. In their two wins, they have scored a total of eight goals but in their three losses, they have totaled just three goals. It’s safe to say that Philadelphia has to light the lamp to take some pressure off Carter Hart. Yet, the reality is that this team has been very reliant on defense and goaltending since the restart. Therefore, the expectation is that they will continue with this tactic. They managed to win game 5 and to get back into the series.
On the offensive side of the game, the Flyers score an average of 2.36 goals per game in the restart.
And on the defensive side of the ice, the Flyers are allowing only 2.28 goals per game in the restart. Also, the Flyers are average when it comes to penalty killing as they successfully navigate 78.6 percent of their shorthanded situations.
N.Y Islanders Form
The Islanders are a team that is able to produce some great hockey on the ice. They showed that in the late part of the game but they were unable to cause a complete turnaround. As a result, the Islanders take the ice again here looking to advance to the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time since the 1992-93 season.
The offense is their main weapon and they will aim to capitalize on that in this game.
On the offensive side of the game, the Islanders are putting up an impressive 3.29 goals per game during the restart, which puts them solidly near the top of teams offensively.
And on the offensive side of the game, the Islanders have been stingy defensively as they allow just 1.86 goals per game so far in the playoffs.
I expect that this will another tight game and both teams will be focused more on being strong at the blue line. However, I expect the Islanders to this one. After all, New York has been excellent in their own end of the ice since the restart and that has carried them so far in the playoffs. Also, their offensive firepower is the top class. Take the over 5.5 total in this game
