The NHL Playoff action is back on Monday evening as the Nashville Predators will clash with the Colorado Avalanche at the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado in the third game of their best-of-seven series. The Preds were able to secure a 2-0 lead in the series after they managed to beat the Avs 5-4 in a very tight game.
Nashville Predators Form
The Predators have played really well during the regular part of the season as they won the President’s Cup this year. Nashville won the most points in the league and they rolled into the playoffs with a great stat of 19 wins in their last 25 games. The Preds kept their momentum as they won the first two games against the Avalanche. However, it is important to emphasize that they had a tough time in those games as Colorado played really well. The Predators away form this year stands at 25-16 and they have averaged 3.00 goals per game and have allowed an average of 2.44 goals per game in those games.
On the offensive side of the game, the Preds have been consistent and solid as they are placed on the 7th spot in the league in scoring at 3.18 goals per game, converting on 21.2% of their chances. At the defensive part of the game, they were very productive as they are ranked 2nd in goals allowed, letting in an average of 2.49 goals per game, allowing the opposing teams to convert on 18.1% of their chances.
Colorado Avalanche Form
The Colorado Avalanche were more than a match in the first two games of this series, but still, they are down 2-0 and now their aim will be to get back on track at home. The Avs played really well at the home ice during the regular season this year. Their home form is 28-13 for the year and they have averaged 3.54 goals per game and have allowed 2.39 goals per game in those games. However, their current form is not so great as they have lost seven of their last 10 games,
The Avs were solid on the offence this year as they are placed on the 10th spot in the league in scoring at 3.11 goals per game, converting on 22.0% of their chances. At the defensive part of their game, their form is a bit above average as they are ranked 14th in goals allowed, letting in an average of 2.88 goals per game, allowing teams to convert on 16.7% of their chances.
The first two games were really tight and could have gone either way. Although the Avs are good at their home ground, I believe that we will see the offensive firepower of the Predators in this game as they will aim to prevent the Avs to get back into the series. The Preds are one of the main favourites to win the Stanley Cup this year and I expect a winning performance from them in this game.
