The NHL is back in action today as the Florida Panthers will clash with San Jose Sharks.
The Panthers suffered a 4-1 defeat at home by Edmonton in their previous game Saturday night. And on the other side, San Jose earned a 2-0 road victory over Minnesota in their previous contest Saturday night.
Florida Panthers Form
The Panthers are heading into this game after a disappointing defeat in the game against the Oilers at home.
Moreover, they have now lost their last two games and their 6th defeat in the last 7 games.
And now, the Panthers are fourth in the Atlantic Division, four points behind Toronto for the final guaranteed playoff spots in the division. Also, they are 18 back of Boston for the division lead. Additionally, for the wild-card race, the Panthers are five points back of the Flyers for the second wild-card spot.
On the offensive side of the game, the Panthers score an average of 3.42 goals per game.
And on the defensive side of the ice, the Panthers concede an average of 3.36 goals per game.
San Jose Sharks Form
The Sharks are heading into this game after a solid winning display in the game against Minnesota.
Moreover, they have now won their last two games. Also, they have won 4 of their last 5 games. And now, the Sharks are sixth in the Pacific Division, 12 points behind the Golden Knights for the final guaranteed playoff spot. Also, they are 13 back of Vancouver for the division lead. In the Western Conference playoff picture, the Sharks trailed the Coyotes by 10 points for the second wild-card spot. However, it seems that the team is struggling with their offensive game this season,
Going forward, the Sharks score an average of 2.59 goals per game.
And for the defensive side of the game, the Sharks concede an average of 3.24 goals per game.
The Panthers are trying to get into the postseason mix. However, their form is not good enough. Additionally, it seems that just can’t get their offensive game going. And on the other side, for the Sharks, it is safe to say that they are playing well. Additionally, they have a good record in their recent games. Furthermore, they play at their home ice and that is why the Sharks are my choice for this game.
