The NHL is back in action today as the third-seeded Dallas Stars are the “road” team in the bubble as they battle the eighth-seeded Calgary Flames in Game 4 of their best of seven series Sunday afternoon. The Flames won the first game of the series with a score of 3-2. The Stars rebounded with a hard-fought 5-4 win to put the series at the level. However, it was Calgary that won Game 3 with score of 2-0.
Dallas Stars Form
The Stars are having a good season so far. However, they were not able to maintain that good momentum in these series as they lost game 3. Therefore, they will aim to improve in this game and to get back on track. But it will be challenging for them as the Texas-based team is struggling offensively after the restart. They are averaging only 1.83 goals per game in the round-robin and first-round contests. Ben Bishop is expected to get the call between the pipes in this contest.
On the offensive side of the game, the Stars concede an average of 3.17 goals per game during the postseason.
The Stars have sputtered with the man advantage, converting only 10.5 per cent of their chances on the power play. The Stars are average on the penalty kill, successfully getting through 79 per cent of their shorthanded situations in the postseason.
Calgary Flames Form
The Flames made history when they have become the first team to qualify for the playoff in the history of the Rogers Place in Edmonton. That came as a big blow to their local rivals, the Edmonton Oilers!. Therefore, the Flames surely won the battle of Alberta this season. However, this is a team that has the potential for a lot more.
They won game 3 to regain the lead in the series. And the Flames now try to make it back to back wins in order to open a commanding 3-1 series advantage.
On the offensive side of the game, the Flames are solid as they light the lamp with an average record of 3.57 goals per game. Also, their defensive game is second to none as they concede an average of 1.86 goals per game. Calgary is strong on the power play as they cash in on 29.2 per cent of their chances with the man advantage.
Prediction
This will be a very complex game for betting due to the fact that both teams are at a similar level. Both teams can turn up at any game. However, I expect that Flames to win this game. They had Talbot to thank for the win in the last game. But I believe that will be able to note their negatives during the last game and win this one.
