The NHL is back in action today as the Colorado Avalanche will clash with the Dallas Stars. The Stars are heading into this game after a 2-1 win over St. Louis in their first round-robin contest Sunday afternoon. And on the other side, the Starts lost 5-3 by Vegas in their first round-robin contest on Monday night.
Colorado Avalanche Form
The Avalanche ended on the 2nd spot in the Central Division before the interruption of the season. Also, they scored a significant win in the game against the Blues in the first round-robin matchup in the Western Conference. They are a solid team this season and there is more to come from them.
In the win against the Blue, this Colorado side had to fight and the game was really tight.
In the dying seconds, Nazem Kadri bagged the winner with his first of the postseason. Therefore, the Avalanche stole the win in the final moments of the game.
On the offensive side of the game, the Avalance in scoring an average of 2.58 goals per game.
As for the defensive side of the game, the Colorado side is conceding an average of 3.37 goals per game.
Dallas is an average team on the power play as they converted 2.71 per cent of their chances with the man advantage this season.
Dallas Stars Form
The Stars suffered a disappointing defeat in the game against the Golden Knights. Moreover, they played better in the first two periods, but they dropped their pace in the final period of the game. Also, they were kronwalled on a few occasions at the top line. Furthermore, they did not control the puck well and their play on the blue line dropped in the final period. Basically, their defence formation fell apart and they conceded 4 goals in the last period of the game. On a positive note, Ben Bishop made 28 saves in the loss as Dallas was outshot 33-27 in the contest.
On the offensive side of the game, the Stars in scoring an average of 2.58 goals per game.
As for the defensive side of the game, Dallas side is conceding an average of 2.52 goals per game.
Dallas is an average team on the power play as they converted 21.1 per cent of their chances with the man advantage this season.
Prediction
The Stars played well for two periods in their last NHL game against Vegas. However, they dropped in the final period of the game and that is a big problem for them. On the other side, the Avalanche are a strong offensive team with some great individuals. Also, they won in the game against the Blues and the winning momentum is on their side. Therefore, I expect a convincing win for Colorado in this one.
