The NHL playoffs action is back on Monday evening pucks as the Boston Bruins head to the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida to clash with the Tampa Bay Lightning in game two of their best-of-seven series. The Bruins were the better team in game one of this series as they won by a score of 6-2.
Boston Bruins Form
The Boston Bruins had a tough challenge playing 7 games against the Maples in round 1 of the playoffs. The Bruins kept their momentum as they beat the Lightning by a score of 6-2. Moreover, their form is good as they have now scored 13 goals in their last two games which will give them an additional boost heading into game two. The Bruins away form stands at 24-21 so far and they have averaged 2.93 goals per game and have allowed 2.60 goals per game in those games.
On the offensive side of their game, Boston has very good stats during the postseason so far as they are the 2nd best team in scoring at 4.25 goals per game, converting on 36.4% of their chances. At the defensive side of their game, they are placed on the 7th spot in goals allowed, letting in an average of 2.75 goals per game, allowing the opposing teams to convert on 27.8% of their chances.
Tampa Bay Lightning Form
The Tampa Bay Lightning were not really tested in the first round of the playoffs as they thrashed the New Jersey Devils. The Lightning conceded just two goals in their last two games against the Devils, however, their defensive record was not so good at the start as they conceded 10 goals in their first three games of that series. The Lightning has been in good form at their home ground as their record stands at 32-13 for the year and they have averaged 3.56 goals per game and have allowed 2.93 goals per game in those games.
On the offensive side of the game, Tampa Bay playoffs stats placed them on the 4th spot in the league in scoring at 3.33 goals per game on the year, converting on 27.3% of their chances. At the defensive side of their game, the Lighting have been in an average form during the postseason as they are placed on the 8th spot in goals conceded, during the postseason, letting in an average of 3.00 goals per game, allowing teams to convert on 20.0% of their chances.
The Bruins were able to keep their momentum in game one and managed a win at their home ground. The Lightning really looked disorganized in that game but I expect them to bounce back with a strong effort in this one. They have been the best team in the Eastern Conference during the regular part of the season and their home form has been their main strength so far as they stand at 32-13. On the other side, the Bruins struggled at their away games and that is one of the reasons why it took 7 games to go trough the first playoff round. I expect that the Lightning will step up and win this game
