The NHL is back in action today as the Anaheim Ducks will clash with the New Jersey Devils.
Anaheim suffered a 2-1 defeat in the game against the Flyers. And on the other side, New Jersey downed Arizona 2-1 on the road in their previous contest Saturday night.
Anaheim Ducks Form
The Ducks are heading into this game after an unlucky defeat in the game against the Flyers. Moreover, the Ducks are now seventh in the Pacific Division. Also, they are nine points behind the Golden Knights for the final guaranteed playoff spot. John Gibson made 29 saves in the win for the Ducks in the win over the Rangers. However, Ryan Miller got the call for the game against the Flyers. And he might start this game as well.
On the offensive side of the game, the Ducks are placed on the 27th spot in the league in scoring with 2.58 goals per game.
And on the defensive side of the game, the Ducks concede an average of 2.91 goals per game which is the 13th defensive record in the league.
New Jersey Devils Form
The Devils are heading into this game after a solid win against the Coyotes. Moreover, this win was very important for them as they ended their run of 7 games without a win. However, things need to improve as the Devils entered Tuesday in the basement of the Metropolitan Division, 17 points behind the Hurricanes and Penguins for the final guaranteed playoff spot. As for the top division spot, they are 28 points behind the Capitals. Therefore, they need to improve in order to save the season.
On the offensive side of the game, the Devils score an average of 2.38 goals per game. And this is the worst record in the league in scoring.
As for the defensive side of the game, the Devils concede an average of 3.47 goals per game. And this defensive record is also the worst in the league.
Prediction
It seems that both teams are struggling at the moment. The Ducks suffered a hard to take defeat against the Flyers and that showed their offensive still needs improvement. And on the other side, the Devils are having a poor season so far. Their form is not good at the moment as they just got their first win in 8 games. However, that win might be a turning point for them. Now they are playing at home and are on the wing of winning momentum. Therefore, I expect a win for New Jersey in this one.
