Tennessee Titans vs. Denver Broncos, Monday Night Football. Last game of the first week of the NFL. Interesting week. New things, new quarterbacks, Brady’s debut and other highlights. But now is the time to close the week with this long-awaited game between two teams with high expectations.
Tennessee Titans: New Year for Great Things.
The Titans last season did everything right. The team made the playoffs after winning against the Patriots. But one of the most important victories was the divisional game against the Baltimore Ravens 28-12. The team had high expectations of winning the AFC. But they lost to the Chiefs 24-35. The Titans haven’t won a conference title since 1999. Before 2019 the team hadn’t reached the playoffs since 2017.
Last season the Titans were scoring 24.91 points on the road. 30.09 rushes, 143.18 rush yards, 17.55 completed passes, 207.45 pass yards, and 1 turnonver. Up to 6.23 points per quarter in 2019. The defense allowed an average of 18.27 points per game with 24.64 rushes and 254.45 pass yards. Against the Broncos the team lost in the sixth week 0-16.
Ryan Tannehill in his second year with the Titans. Tannehill will be the starting quarterback this season for Tennessee. Last season his numbers were good with 201 passes completed, 70.28% ERA, 2,742 yards, 22 touchdowns and only 6 interceptions. Ryan removed Marcus Mariota’s spot in week six.
Denver Broncos: Everything at home.
The Broncos last season had a negative record at 7-9. The team was second in the AFC West. At least the home record was positive at 5-3. The last four weeks at home were wins against the Browns, Chargers, Lions and Raiders. In last season’s win against the Titans, the Broncos scored just 6 points in the first half. It was an intense defensive game.
At home in 2019, the Broncos were scoring 18.75 points per game. 24.50 rushes, 95.38 rush yards. 195.13 pass yards and 21.13 completed passes. Average per quarters was 4.68 points last season. The defense is good, the team allowed an average of 17.88 points in eight games at home. 27 rushes, 117.38 rush yards, 205.25 pass yards, and 20.38 completed passes.
Drew Lock is in his second year as a professional. Last season he made a good impression at 4-1-0. Joe Flacco is now part of the Jets. With Lock as the starting quarterback, the Broncos’ strategy is a bit fresher with young blood. Lock’s only loss was to Mahomes at Kansas 3-23.
