Kansas City Chiefs vs. Baltimore Ravens, American Football Conference. The most important game of this week. With this game a week of luxury closes. So far the Ravens are favorites at home, but the Chiefs are deadly on the road. Both teams have a perfect record without losses. But the Ravens haven’t won against the Chiefs since 2012.
Kansas City Chiefs: Total power.
The Chiefs won the first two weeks of the season against the Texans 34-20 and Chargers 23-20. All the games had Patrick Mahomes as the main protagonist. Especially last week against the Chargers when things got tough. For now the team leads the AFC West with 2-0. The Raiders, in the same division, are the only other team with a positive record.
After two weeks into the season, the Chiefs are scoring an average of 28.50 points per game, 28 rushes with 145.50 rush yards, 25.50 passes completed and 246 pass yards. The team averages up to 6.75 points per quarter. The defense allows an average of 20 points, 33 rushes with 150 rush yards. The last win against the Ravens was at home 33-28.
Patrick Mahomes 513 yards with 51 passes completed for 64.56% effectiveness. Mahomes’ weakest game so far was last week against the Charges with 57.45% and 27/47 passes. But actually his performance was fine with 302 yards, 2 touchdowns and 6 personal rushes. Mahomes’ failure was the defense’s fault.
Baltimore Ravens: Time to win.
The Ravens haven’t won since 2012 against the Chiefs. That victory was 9-6 at Kansas. And the most recent game in Baltimore was a 34-14 loss. Apparently with or without Mahomes the Chiefs are a tough opponent for the Ravens. The first two weeks of this season were positive for the team with wins against Browns 38-6 and Texans 33-16. Crushing victories that send a clear message of offensive power.
The team is scoring an average of 35.50 points per game, 33.50 rushes with 170.5 rush yards, 19.50 passes completed and 223.5 pass yards. Up to 8.87 points per quarter. The first half is the best for the Raven with an average of 22 points. The defense is powerful, the team allows up to 11 points with 22 rushes, 94.5 rush yards and 210.5 pass yards.
Lamar Jackson has good numbers so far. 479 yards, 77.5% and 38/49 passes completed, 4 touchdowns with no interceptions. 23 staff rushes for 99 yards with no touchdowns. The two games of the season almost 80% effective. Just one fumble this season against the Browns. Against the Chiefs in 2019 Jackson had a 51% ERA.
