Florida State Seminoles vs. Gonzaga Bulldogs, NCAA Tournament Sweet 16. Begins one of the most intense rounds of the tournament, the Sweet 16. Gonzaga ex number one of the nation has not yet shown all that power they have. The team has struggled to win games and reach the first place, but they lost the conference. In previous years Gonzaga has done the same, top 10 but without earning anything important. The Seminoles lost the conference final against Duke, but overall they performed well all season.
Gonzaga Bulldogs: It’s time to win something.
The Bulldogs are still favorites in America to win the championship, but they barely have a title and it was almost two years ago. The performance of the Bulldogs has been spectacular this season, many points and victories but maybe not enough. The conference record ended 16-0, but they lost the conference final against Saint Mary’s 60-47. The overall record was also good, 32-3. The only defeats was for a few points but the defense is still solid.
This season the Bulldogs are a point scoring machine with an average of 88.6 points per game, 32.48 FG points, 7.87 three pointers, 77.0% free throw shots, 18.13 assists. The defense is strong allowing only 64.8 points, 23.74 FG points, 68.9% free throw shots, 6.58 three pointers and only 10.03 assists.
The ATS record is positive with 22-13-0, but with problems in the last games. Since the end of the regular season, the Bulldogs have only completed 2-2-0 in the spread, the defense has been weak allowing points. The last game was against Baylor with victory for the Bulldogs 83-71 but without completing -14.5 points in the spread.
Florida State Seminoles: No fear against dogs.
The Seminoles aspire to close the season by eliminating the Bulldogs from the road. The team finished fourth in the ACC with thirteen victories and only five defeats, the overall record was 29-7. The title for the conference was lost against Duke 63-73. But then they won the first two games against Vermont 76-69 and Murray State 90-62 in the post season. The team has been solid all season.
The offensive is averaging 75.4 points per game, 26.23 FG points, 74.2% free throw shots, 7.43 three pointers, 13.17 assists. Seminole defense allows up to 67.0 points, 22.77 FG points, 72.3% free throw shots, 7.50 three pointers, 10.27 assists. The record against Gonzaga is 1-1, the last game was in 2017 with victory for the Seminoles 75-60.
The ATS record is negative with 16-19-1. In the last two games of the NCAA Tournament the record is 1-1, in both games they were favorites but without completing the larger spread with -8.5 points. All season the offensive suffered to complete the spread, six losses in the spread was the worst losing streak.
