Utah Jazz vs. Denver Nuggets, Game 7 Western Conference. End of an exciting series between two teams that gave it their all in the first round. This round was in favor of the Jazz until recently. But the Nuggets knew how to turn everything in their favor. Right now there is no solid favorite for Game 7, but veterans can make a difference.
Utah Jazz: It’s time for the end.
The Jazz had everything clear to go to the next round. The team had won three straight games to destroy the Nuggets 3-1. That gap that is almost impossible to overcome. But the Jazz didn’t know how to win in the fifth and sixth games. In the most recent game, the Utah Jazz lost 107-119. The work was even for each team, but the Jazz bench did not score as in the first games of the round.
The team is the second-deadliest of the postseason with 119.3 points per game in the playoffs. 82.3 FG points, 17 three pointers, 78.4% free throw shots, 22.3 assists and 9.2 offensive rebounds. The defense is allowing 115 points per game, 44% threes and 22.3 assists. In the last two losses the team lost by 10+ points in each game.
Donovan Mitchell is the machine that takes the team forward. 38.7 points per game for Mitchell in the playoffs, 54.8% FG points and 55.4% three pointers. Veteran Mike Conley is playing much better in the postseason than in the regular season with 22.8 points and 56.9% FG points. Clarkson and Rudy Gobert both over fifteen points in the playoffs.
Denver Nuggets: The hole has a way out.
The Nuggets are looking for a way to get to the next round. But the team still has not come out of the hole where they fell for several days. The last two victories were overwhelming, especially because players like Jamal Murray are scoring more points than normal. But there are still several points to cover. For example, the defense is still terrible against the Jazz and the offense is not the most effective.
In the playoffs the team is scoring an average of 115 points per game, 16.3 three pointers, 22.3 assists, 4.5 steals, 11 offensive rebounds, 86% free throw shots. Those are good numbers, but the defense is the third worst in the playoffs. The team allows up to 119.3 points per game with 82.3 FG points.
Jamal Murray apparently woke up from the deep sleep he had in the first three games of the round. Murray is playing much better, in the last two games over 40+ points. Murray leads the Nuggets with 34 points per game in the playoffs. Jokic with 25.7, Grant and Porter with 12 points each.
