The NBA playoffs are back in action as the finals clash between Portland Trail Blazers and the Golden State Warriors is on the schedule for today. Portland is heading into this series after they rallied for a 100-96 road win over Denver in Game 7 of their Western Conference semifinals series on Sunday afternoon. Golden State was better than Houston with a 118-113 away win in Game 6 of their Western Conference semifinals Friday night.
Portland Trail Blazers Form
Portland has been playing well this season. However, that had to dig deep in order to eliminate a stubborn Nuggets team in 7 games. This is a strong offensive team and their defensive performance are solid as well.
They will aim to keep that momentum as they are facing the Champions in the finals of the Western Conference. Therefore, they will need to play at their best. And players like CJ McCollum will be the backbone as the 27-year-old shooter scored 37 points in their last win.
On the offensive side of the game, Portland is scoring an average of 111.2 points per game. Also, they have an average of 46.7 boards a night and 18.3 assists per game.
On the defensive side of the game, the Trail Blazers concede an average of 109.8 points per game.
Golden State Warriors Form
The Warriors are playing another strong season. They were very solid in the regular part of the season and their form continued in the postseason. They eliminate the Rockets in six games in a commanding way. Also, it is important to emphasize that they managed that without their talisman Kevin Durant. The Champions are probably the favourite to win the championship again this year and there are many reasons for that.
One notable is the form of Stephen Curry. The 31 point guard scored 33 points in the last game against Houston with 23 of those he scored in the 4th quarter.
On the offensive side of the game, Warriors is scoring an average of 118.1 points per game. Also, they have an average of 42.8 boards a night and 28.3 assists per game.
On the defensive side of the game, the Warriors concede an average of 109.8 points per game.
Prediction
The Western Conference finals will be very interesting this year. Both teams are really good and they showed that so far in the postseason. The Warriors will miss Kevin Durant and that can an opportunity for the Trail Blazers.
However, Golden State is a strong team at home and I expect a win for them in this first game.
