Los Angeles Clippers vs. Denver Nuggets, Game 3 Western Conference Semifinals. Game 2 wasn’t dominated by the Clippers as most people expected. The Nuggets actually took the lead from the first quarter. But that was all the Nuggets could do to win. The Clippers know they need to tighten the defense a bit to prevent that from happening again.
Los Angeles Clippers: Time to win.
The Clippers know they had defensive problems in the first quarter of the second game. The Nuggets won that quarter 44-25. But that was the only quarter they won. The other three quarters were dominated by the Clippers: 31-28, 21-17 and 24-21. The advantage was reduced little by little until the game ended 110-101. A loss doesn’t mean much to the Clippers, but it does give the Nuggets breathing space.
The team continues to lead the table of top scorers in the playoffs. So far the Clippers are scoring 122.6 points in the postseason. 44.4 FG points, 12.9 three pointers, 79.6% free throw shots, 21.3 assists and 7.4 steals. The defense allows up to 112.8 points per game, 14.3 three pointers, and 76.6% free throw shots.
Kawhi Leonard did not play well during the second game. Leonard could barely score 13 points. The only player with twenty points was Paul George with 22 points, 7 FG points and 4 three pointers. Despite everything, the bench supported the team with 38 points during the second game.
Denver Nuggets: We dream of winning.
The Nuggets with a win feel they can do more for this series. But the team knows that they have the number one postseason in points ahead. It is not easy to face an offense that uses all players to win, starters and bench. But the point in favor of the Nuggets is to resist after having the advantage.
In the second round the Nuggets are scoring an average of 103.5 points per game. In the postseason, the Nuggets have the ninth-best offense in the league with 108.6 points per game. 39.7 FG points, 14.4 three pointers, 81.10% free throw shots, 21.4 assists and 5.8 steals. The defense allows up to 112.8 points per game.
Murray finally did better. He scored 27 points in the second game, much more than in the first game. Jokic scored 26 points, Millsap and Harris both scored 13 points. Jokic and Murray lead the team in field goals with 50% + effectiveness.
