Denver Nuggets vs. Los Angeles Lakers, Western Conference game. The Nuggets don’t want to miss out on the opportunity to measure their strength against the Lakers. But LeBron is unlikely to play at a “playoff” level. Health is the most important thing to him at this time. The Lakers don’t want to take chances, but they don’t want to be humiliated before the playoffs.
Denver Nuggets: Strong in everything.
The Nuggets have a positive record this season at 46-24. In the last five games 3-2 and the last victory was against the Utah Jazz (conference playoffs) 134-132. The team is among the best three in the conference. Prior to this game, the Nuggets won one against the Lakers 128-104 and lost another game in February 116-120. The last game was at home.
The team is scoring an average of 111.2 points per game, 42.09 FG points, 10.77 three pointers, 26.62 assists and 27.35 points per quarter. The defense allows up to 108.6 points, 39.86 FG points, 11.94 three pointers and 13.64 turnovers.
Nikola Jokic leads the Nuggets with 20.4 points, 52.6% FG points, 30.9% three pointers and 82% free throw shots. Jamal Murray is close to that number with 18.9 points per game and 87.8% free throw shots. On the other hand, Will Barton will not be available for this game.
Los Angeles Lakers: No risks, there is still a long way to go.
The Lakers know they have to take care of James and Davis. It is important that these two players are healthy for the playoffs. So far the Lakers lead the conference at 51-18. That leadership will likely remain that way until the end of the regular season. The Lakers’ passivity has been noticed in the last six games with just two wins and four losses. The last game was a loss to the Pacers 111-116.
The stats are good for the Lakers. The team is scoring an average of 113.2 points per game, 42.23 FG points, 73% free throw shots, 10.91 three pointers, 25.30 assists and 28.2 points per quarter. The defense allows up to 107 points and 11.49 three pointers. The game depends on what James and Davis can do.
Up to six players are on the disabled list under the “Day to Day” category. On the list are LeBron James (groin) and Anthony Davis (ankle). But one of the biggest losses is Rajon Rondo (thumb surgery) probably won’t be available until the half of the playoffs.
