The MLB brings more action on Friday evening as the Seattle Mariners will rumble with the Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park in Detroit, Michigan in game one of a three-game series. The Mariners will give the nod to Marco Gonzalez and on the other side, the Tigers will counter with Matthew Boyd.
Seattle Mariners Form
The Seattle Mariners are one of the teams that enjoyed a solid form at the start of the season. Their record so far is 20-15. In their last game against the Blue Jays on Thursday they were solid and were leading the game 2-1, however, they were on the losing side of the field at the end, as the Jays won 5-2. They will need to regroup for this game they want to get back on winning ways. Seattle has averaged 5.21 runs per game and has concede a 4.68 runs per game in the away games this season so far.
On the offensive side of the game, the Mariners have decent stats so far as they are placed on the 12th spot in the league in scoring, putting up an average of 4.51 runs per game, while also being 9th in hitting at .255 and 12th in homers with a total of 42. On the mound, they have been in a poor form so far, as they are placed on the 24th spot in the league in ERA at 4.70, while also ranking 17th in WHIP at 1.32 and 11th in K’s with 325.
Detroit Tigers
The Detroit Tigers are one of the teams that had a slow start of the season. Their record so far this season stands at 15-21. Also, the Tigers home record so far this season stands at 8-8 which does not give them much confidence heading into this game. Detroit has averaged 5.00 runs per game and has allowed 4.38 runs per game here at home.
On the offensive side of the game, the Tigers have an average stats so far as they are placed on the 15 spot in the league in scoring an average of 4.42, runs per game, while also being placed on the 6th spot in hitting at .259 and 29th in homers with a total of 31. On the mound, their stats are bellow average as they are placed on the 17th spot in the league in ERA at 4.23, while also ranking 19th in WHIP at 1.32 and 27th in K’s with 276.
The Tigers will aim to bounce back after their recent struggles in their away games. However, their current form and they way the play, does not give me confidence that they will get back on track in this game. On the other side, the Marines have been solid this year as their record so far this season stands at 20-15. Moreover, I expect that their offensive firepower will dominate in this game. As for the Tigers, their form may get back on track eventually, but not in this game. Go for the Mariners in this one.
