Seattle Mariners vs. Detroit Tigers, first game of the series. Four interesting games start tonight. The Tigers with just a couple of recent victories. This new series for them seems to be one of the most difficult on the road so far. The home team has also been playing badly this season. The record at home is pity, but the last series was a necessary victory to raise the energies of the team.
Seattle Mariners: At home we hope to win.
The Mariners at home have a negative record with 22 wins and 32 losses. It is one of the worst records for the Mariners in recent years. The last series was a home victory against the Rangers 2-1. But the defense in that series had many holes that were taken advantage of by the Rangers. This is the first series against the Tigers this season. Only five wins in twelve games in July for the Mariners.
At home the Mariners are scoring an average of 4.91 runs per game, 3.63 walks, 9.87 strike outs, 8.07 hits, 1.50 home runs, 14.00 left on base. Erik Swanson will open the series tonight. The season has been negative for him in his first year as a professional. 1-5 in seven games as starter, 35.1 pitched innings, 44 hits, 35 runs, 13 home runs, 27 strike outs, 1,415 WHIP. This is Swanson’s fourth game at home, the other three were defeats.
Detroit Tigers: With nothing to do this season.
The Tigers are dead playing on the road with negative numbers. 17 wins and 31 losses on the road so far. Only two victories in July in ten total games. In the last series on the road the Tigers were swept by the Indians 4-0. They also lost the series against the Royals and White Sox.
