San Francisco Giants vs. Colorado Rockies, second game of the series. Last night the Rockies won the first game as we predicted, but the home team defense did a good job. The visitors gave the first blow in the series, and if they win tonight everything will be in their favor. The Giants had already won a series against the Rockies earlier in the season, but things have changed. The Rockies are no longer the same.
San Francisco Giants: Another game, another opportunity.
The first game was a failure. Giants at home defense worked hard to prevent the Rockies from scoring more runs. The game ended 2-0 for the Rockies. This is the second consecutive home loss. The only two runs of the visitors were scored in the third inning. The Giants made one mistake in the entire first game of the series.
At home now the record is 15-22. In the first game, the Giants scored just six hits and allowed five. The best player of the Giants in the first game was Joe Panik with only two hits. On the mount, Jon Gray allowed 4 hits and 2 BB with six strike outs. The Giants are scoring an average of 3.14 runs per game and allow up to 4.95 at home.
Madison Bumgarner will open the second game of the series. The season has been negative for Bumgarner. This is his eleventh year with the Giants. 3-7 in 16 games as a starter. 96.2 pitched innings, 4.28 ERA, 99 hits, 54 runs, 16 home runs, 93 strike outs and 1,241 WHIP.
Colorado Rockies: We just want to win.
The Rockies already know what it’s like to lose to the Giants. The first series of the season against them, the team lost 3-1 in a long series of four games. The first three games were tight. In this first game of the new series the best player for the Rockies was David Dahl with 1 run, 1 hit, 2 RBI in 4 at bats. But the Rockies suffered 13 strike outs for the Giants’ defense since the mount.
The record on the road is 19-22 for the Rockies. The team used four pitchers to attack the Giants at home. But they only delivered nine strike outs throughout the game. Jon Gray was battling 24 hitters. The Rockies are scoring an average of 4.44 runs on the road, and they are allowing up to 4.07 runs. And the last series against the Giants, the team allowed up to 9 runs in four games.
Chi Chi Gonzalez will defend the Rockies tonight from the mount. This game will be the return for Gonzalez after three years without playing in the majors. With the Rangers I leave a record in two seasons of 4 wins and 8 losses. Gonzalez was out of action for a surgery.
