The MLB is back on Wednesday as the San Diego Padres will clash with the New York Mets in the third game at Citi Field in New York. The Padres will give a start to Clayton Richard and the Mets will counter with Corey Oswalt.
San Diego Padres Form
The Padres have been playing poorly this season. Their recent form is not good either as they have lost 8 of their last 9 games. The only win in these 9 games come in the first game against the Mets with a score of 3-2. However, they went back as they lost the second game with a score of 6-3. San Diego has averaged 3.47 runs per game and has allowed 4.35 runs per game during their away games.
Clayton Richard record against the Mets stands at 2-5 with a 4.37 ERA in nine starts, including 0-3 with a 5.64 ERA in four starts at Citi Field.
On the offensive side of the game, the Padres are poor this season as they are placed on the 28th spot in the league in scoring, putting up just 3.72 runs per game. They are also placed on the 27th place in hitting at .232 and also 27th in the league in homers with a total of 88. On the mound, they have been below average this season as they are placed on the 20th spot in the league in ERA at 4.33. They are 21st in WHIP at 1.35 and 11th in K’s with 870.
New York Mets Form
The New York Mets have some mixed success in this series. They were surprised in the first game as they were defeated with a score of 3-2. They bounced back in the second game with a 6-3 win. However, the problem with their offence is still persistent and it seems that they can’t solve it. The long injury list does not help either as the Mets have been playing without some key players this season. The Mets have allowed 4.18 runs per game at their home ground this season.
On the offensive side of the game, the Mets have been poor as they are placed on the 25th spot in the league in scoring, putting up 3.90 runs per game, while also being on the 29th spot in hitting at .227 and 24th place in homers with a total of 99. On the mound, are on the 19th spots in the league in ERA at 4.27 while also being on the 18th spot in WHIP at 1.33 and 14th place in K’s with 861.
It seems that the Padres just can get to winning ways. Their starting pitcher for this game Corey Oswalt does not have a good season so far. On the other side, the Mets are not very solid on the offensive side of the game and Clayton Richards is also having a bad season. All in all, both teams are poor this year, but I think that the Mets are the better team and that they will get the win in this game. Take the Mets in this one.
