Major League Baseball is back in action on Wednesday evening as the Pittsburgh Pirates will battle with the Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati, Ohio in game two of their three-game series. The Pirates will give the nod to the 25 years old pitcher Chad Kuhl, and on the other side, the Reds will counter with Homer Bailey.
Pittsburgh Pirates Form
The Pittsburgh Pirates have been in good form this season. However, they surprised many as they lost three home games against the Padres during the weekend. They will aim to bounce back after that disappointment. They head into this series as the clear favorites and based on their recent result, the pressure is mounting on them do well in this first game. Their away record stand at 11-11 so far this season. The Pirates have averaged 4.55 runs per game and have allowed 5.00 runs per game on the road for the year.
On the offensive side of the game, they are the 5th best team in the league in scoring, putting up just 4.89 runs per game, while also being 4th in hitting at .260 and 17th in homers with a total of 51 so far. On the mound, they have been in an average form as they are placed 14th in the league in ERA at 4.07, while also being placed on the 15th in WHIP at 1.29 and 21st in K’s with 378.
Cincinnati Reds Form
The Reds are not very good this season and their average form will probably cost them a place in the playoffs this season. However, they changed their luck recently as they beat the Dodgers in four games on the road. Yet, it seems that was just a temporary improvement as they lost three of four at home to the Cubs. Their home form has been a problem for them this year and it will be a hard challenge for them against the Pirates in this series. The Reds have averaged 3.72 runs per game and have allowed 5.60 runs per game at home this season.
On the offensive side of the game, they have some poor stats as they are placed on the 25th spot in the league in scoring, putting up just 3.98 runs per game, while also holding the 20th spot in hitting at .238 and 24th in homers with a total of 44 so far. On the mound, they have also been poor as they are placed on the 26th spot in the league in ERA at 4.9, while also ranking 27th in WHIP at 1.46 and 20th in K’s with 378.
The Pirates are good offensive team this season. They will aim to bounce back after the recent struggles against the Padres. On the other side, the Reds have been struggling lately and they had some negative results at home. I expect that the Pirates will get back on winning track in this game. Go for the Pirates in this one.
