The MLB is back in action on Saturday as the York Mets will clash with the Milwaukee Brewers at Miller Park in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in game three of their four-game series. The Mets won game one of this series by a 5-0 score. However, the Brewers bounced back as they won game two on Friday night with a 4-3 result. The Mets will give the nod to the veteran pitcher Jason Vargas and the Brewers will start with Chase Anderson.
New York Mets Form
The New York Mets were surprised by the Miami Marlins as they lost two home games against them. However, that did not bother them as they trashed the Brewers in game one with a score of 5-0. Yet, they could not keep that momentum as they lost the game two of this series. The Mets have won 5 of their last 8 games and they will surely aim to even improve that record in this game. The biggest obstacle for that is their offensive form as they have been struggling lately on that front. They have averaged just 3.05 runs per game in the last 19 games. Their overall record this season is better as the Mets have averaged 4.57 runs per game and have allowed 4.29 runs per game on the road. Jason Vargas record against the Brewers stands at 0-1 with a 5.40 ERA in one start at Miller Park.
On the offensive side of the game, New York has some average stats as they are placed on the 21st spot in the league in scoring, putting up an average of 4.07 runs per game, while also being 22nd in hitting at .238 and 26th in homers with a total of 45 so far. On the mound, they have been above average as they are placed on the 13th spot in the league in ERA at 3.89 while also holding the 13th spot in WHIP at 1.27 and 9th in K’s with 438.
Milwaukee Brewers Form
Milwaukee is one of the teams that enjoyed a solid start of the season and that resulted with them being one of the top teams in the national league Central. Their home form needs to be improved as they showed that they can be vulnerable at times at their home ground. This can be observed through their home record which stands at 14-10 so far this season. Their away record is 18-10 so far this season and this clearly shows that they need to improve at home. The 5-0 loss on Saturday was a clear indication that their offence struggles at home as well. Chase Anderson record against the Mets stands at 2-2 with a 2.86 ERA in five starts.
On the offensive side of the game, the Brewers has been below average so far as they are placed on the 25th spot in the league in scoring, putting up just 4.00 runs per game, while being placed on the 16th spot in hitting at .242 and 7th in homers with a total of 62 so far this season. On the mound, the Brewers are one of the best teams as they are placed on the 2nd spot in the league in ERA at 3.37, while also holding the 7th spot in WHIP at 1.21 and 11th in K’s with 432.
Both of these teams are in a solid form at the moment. The Brewers need to improve their home form and I think that this game will be a great chance for that. Both of these teams have problems with their offence lately. However, the Brewers are better on the mound and I think that this will make a difference in this game. Go for the Brewers in this one.
