New York Mets vs. Boston Red Sox, first game of the series in Boston. The home team lost the first series of the season at home against the Orioles. A series that started with a victory for the Red Sox but the Orioles hit hard the next two games. The Mets also lost the first series of this short year against the Braves.
New York Mets: All wins are important.
The Mets failed against the Atlanta Braves in what was the first series of the season for them. The team won the first game 1-0, but then succumbed 3-5 and 1-14. This series against the Red Sox will be long. The Mets haven’t played a series against the Red Sox in years. Last season was positive for the Mets at 88-77 overall.
Statistics are few for the Mets this so far season. For now the team is scoring an average of 1.67 runs per game and 7.00 hits. The team allows up to 6.33 runs and 9.33 hits. In the series against the Braves the Mets used DeGrom, Matz and Porcello.
Michael Wacha is the lineup pitcher tonight. This game will be his debut as a player with the Mets, after a long career with the St. Louis Cardinals. The last season was 6-7 for Wacha. The best year for him was in 2015 with 17-7.
Boston Red Sox: The monster.
The Red Sox surprisingly lost the first series of the season against the Orioles. That series left many with doubts about the performance of the Red Sox. Even though the season is short, there are still many games ahead, but every victory is important. The first game was a 13-2 win, but the other two were defeats 2-7 and 4-7.
At home the Red Sox are scoring an average of 6.33 runs per game, 11 hits. The team allows up to 5.33 runs and 8.67 hits. Last season the Red Sox had a negative record with 38-45. For now the team is in the last place in the division.
Josh Osich will open the game tonight against the Mets. Six years as a professional for Osich, this will be his first game as a starter with the Red Sox. Last year, Osich’s numbers were 4-0 with the White Sox. Most of his professional career has been with the Giants.
