The MLB is back in action on Thursday evening bases as the Minnesota Twins will clash with the Los Angeles Angels at Angel Stadium of Anaheim in Anaheim, California in game one of a four-game set. The Twins have been the dominant team last season as they won five of the seven games between these teams last year. The twins will start this game with the Puerto Rican pitcher Jose Berrios (3-3, 3.98 ERA). On the other side, the Angles will counter with Garrett Richards (4-1, 3.93 ERA).
Minnesota Twins Form
The Minnesota Twins have been in a good form lately as they managed to win two games against the in-form Cardinals. The Twins offensive firepower was on top as they won the two games by a combined 13-1 score. The Twins record so far in the season is 15-17 but it seems that they have turned the tide as they have now five wins in a row. Moreover, they were dominant in these games as they outscored their opponents with 32-12. The Twins stats include an average of 4.89 runs per game and have allowed 5.00 runs per game in their away games this season so far.
On the offensive side of the game, the Twins have above average stats as they are placed on the 14th spot in the league in scoring an average of 4.47 runs per game, while also being 14th in hitting at .244. The Twins have a total of 37 home runs so far, which placed them at the 20th spot in the league. On the mound, they have been in a poor form so far as they are placed on the 24th spot in the league in ERA at 4.68, while also ranking 22nd in WHIP at 1.40 and 17th in K’s with 302.
Los Angeles Angles Form
The Los Angeles Angels have been one of the better offensive teams this season as they have averaged a solid 8.6 runs per game over their previous five games. And after the initial struggles in the series against the Rockies, it seems that the Angels bounced back as they beat the Rockies with a score of 8-0 on Wednesday. The Angels home stats for the season so far are 4.33 runs per game and have allowed 5.44 runs per game here at home for the year.
On the offensive side of the game, the Angels are very good as they are the 4th best team in the league in scoring an average of 5.09 runs per game, while also being placed on the 7th spot in hitting at .259 and 4th in homers with 49. On the mound, they have been solid so far as they are placed on the 13th spot in the league in ERA at 4.04, while also ranking 20th in WHIP at 1.35 and 8th in K’s with 321.
All in all, it is safe to say that both teams are in a good form at the moment. However, my expectation is that the Angels are slightly better, especially on the mound. Also, I fully expect that the Halos will take the advantage of playing at their home ground and win this game. Go for the Angles in this game.
