The MLB season continues today as the Cleveland Indians will clash with the Minnesota Twins at the Target Field.
This is game two of the series and taking game one was Cleveland by a score of 7-5.
The Indians will give a start to Shane Bieber Twins will counter with Devin Smeltzer.
Cleveland Indians Form
The Indians are a good team this season. Moreover, they are in a good position now as they cut the gap of the Twins in the race for the top spot in their division.
Also, the Indians got the upper hand with a 7-5 win in game one. The Indians have now managed to secure 6 wins in their last 7games and they are just one game behind the Twins. And this good form is mostly based on their strong pitching as they have allowed just 2.00 runs per game over their last seven games. Impressive record for a team that was struggling last year.
On the offensive side of the game, the Indians score an average of 4.64 runs per game. Also, they are 17th in hitting at .249 and 19th in homers with 154. On the mound, they are placed on the 3rd spot in the league in ERA at 3.67, while also ranking 4th in WHIP at 1.19 and 4th in K’s with 1084
Minnesota Twins Form
The Twins are one of the most consistent teams this season. Moreover, they had a solid lead in the Central for much of the year. However, they are now in a complex position as they just one game in front of the Indians. Also, losing the first game against the Indians in this series make things a bit worse.
Furthermore, it seems that their pitching is not up to the level at the moment as they have allowed 30 in the last three games. Therefore, it is safe to say that this team needs to improve. Their strong offensive game is their biggest gem that still keeps them on top.
On the offensive side of the game, the Twins score an average of 5.79 runs per game which is the 2nd best record in the league in scoring. Also, they are ranking 4th in hitting at .270 and 1st in homers with 224. On the mound, they are 8th in the league in ERA at 4.140. And they are ranking 7th in WHIP at 1.28 and 12th in K’s with 1010.
Prediction
The Indians are playing some great baseball at the moment. Moreover, their more recent away form stands at 12 wins from 14 games. That is pretty impressive away record and that will give them momentum heading into this game.
On the other side, the Twins had been playing well, but they were beating teams like the Marlins, Royals etc. They suffered in the last two games against the Braves and the first one against the Indians.
Take the Tribe to win this game.
