The MLB is back in action on Sunday afternoon as the Cincinnati Reds visit the Wrigley Field in Chicago, Illinois to clash with the Chicago Cubs in game three of a three-game series. The Reds will start this game with Luis Castillo the Cubs will counter with Jon Lester.
Cincinnati Red Form
The Cincinnati Reds did not have a good start of the season, yet it seems that they are on the right track to get back to the playoffs spots this season. Cincinnati won the first game of this series by a score of 3-2 and have now won 17 of their last 23 games. Their current form is promising that they will eventually reach the playoffs spots. The Reds have averaged 4.34 runs per game and have allowed 4.78 runs per game on the road so far. Luis Castillo record against the Cubs stands at 1-0 with a 2.16 ERA in three starts, including 0-0 with a 0.00 ERA in one start here at Wrigley.
On the offensive side of the game, the Reds are solid so far this year as they are placed on the 9th spot in the league in scoring, putting up 4.66 runs per game, while also holding 6th in hitting at .257 and 21st place in homers with a total of 92. On the mound, they are on the 24th place in the league in ERA at 4.62, while also holding the 27th place in WHIP at 1.41 and 23rd in K’s with 686.
Chicago Cubs Form
The Chicago Cubs were on a great run before the start of this series. My expectation was that they will win the first game, however, the Reds were able to win with a score of 3-2. Yet, the Cubs are a very good team and bounced back as they won the second game with a score of 8-7. It seems that the Cubs will need to put an extra effort in order to keep the Reds at bay in this series.
Chicago has averaged 5.12 runs per game and has allowed 4.10 runs per game here at home for the year.
Jon Lester record against the Reds stands at 6-1 with a 4.07 ERA in 14 starts. Lester has gone 30-15 with a 3.01 ERA in 62 career starts at Wrigley Field.
On the offensive side of the game, the Cubs are a very solid team this season as they are placed on the 4th spot in the league in scoring, putting up 5.08 runs per game, while also holding the 2nd place in hitting at .266 and 20th spot in homers with a total of 93. On the mound, they are on the 5th place in the league in ERA at 3.55, while also holding the 16th place in WHIP at 1.32 and 22nd place in K’s with 712.
The Reds are in a good form and it seems that they are almost at par with the Cubs at the moment. However, I believe that the Cubs are the better team overall and I expect another Cubs win in this game.
