The Major League Baseball is back in as the Boston Red Sox will clash with the Toronto Blue Jays at the Rogers Centre in Toronto, Ontario in game one of their three-game series. The Red Sox will start this game with the experienced pitcher Rick Porcello and on the other side, the Blue Jays will give a start to the veteran pitcher J.A. Happ.
Boston Red Sox Form
The Boston Red Sox enjoyed a great start of the season as their current form stands at 17-4. The Red Sox have an interesting offensive stats in their recent games. They have averaged 7.71 runs per game over their previous seven games, but in their last two games in Oakland they were beaten and their offence was the main reason for those losses. However, Boston still has the best offence in the league and they have achieved five grand slams this season, compared to hitting only one during the whole last season.
All in all, the overall offensive form of the Red Sox is very good as they are placed on the 1st spot in the league in scoring, putting up 5.90 runs per game, while also ranking 1st in hitting at .277 and 8th in homers with 26. On the mound, the Red Sox are in a good form as they placed on the 4th spot in the league in ERA at 2.75, while also ranking 4th in WHIP at 1.11 and 8th in K’s with 208.
Toronto Blue Jays Form
The Blue Jays also enjoyed a good start of their season, but they have struggled in their recent games in New York. The Jays were disappointed as they lost three of the four games played and their offence was outscored 14-2 in the last two games of that series.
The overall offensive form of Toronto this season, placed them on the 5th spot in the league in scoring, putting up 5.52 runs per game, while also ranking 19th in hitting at .234 and 7th in homers with 28. On the mound, the Blue Jays have average stats so far as they are placed on the 15th in the league in ERA at 4.04, while also holding the 22nd spot in WHIP at 1.37 and 18th in K’s with 179.
The Red Sox are the best offensive team in the Majors right now. And although they have struggled in the last two games, I believe that they will be fresh and ready to bounce back from those disappointments. The starter for the Red Sox, Porcello does not have great numbers against the Blue Jays, while on the other hand, the Blue Jays pick for this game, Happ has solid numbers against the Red Sox. However, I think that the Red Sox has a lot more quality and offensive firepower compared to the Blue Jays. That is why I go for Boston in this one.
