Las Vegas Raiders vs. New England Patriots, American Football Conference. The Raiders are playing perfect. The first two weeks only victories for the new Las Vegas team. It seems this is the season that Gruden has been looking for since his arrival. But the Patriots are not so bad, two weeks with good numbers. Cam Newton has adapted perfectly to the Belichick system.
Las Vegas Raiders: Perfection.
The Raiders won the first two weeks of the season. The first win was against Carolina Panthers 34-30 and last week against New Orleans Saints 34-24. The last one was at home. The Raiders are playing a totally different football, where everything starts from the running back. The strategy is working. The defense has improved a lot this year compared to the last two seasons.
The offense is averaging 34 points per game, 33 rushes with 124.50 rush yards, 25 passes completed and 249 pass yards. The defense is good, the Raiders allow only 27 points per game, 24.5 rushes with 120.5 rush yards and 285.5 pass yards. The team is averaging up to 8.51 points per quarter this season. The second quarter is the strongest for the Raiders.
Derek Carr with a good start to the season. 73.53% effectiveness, 523 yards, 4 touchdowns without interceptions, 115 overall rating. 50/68 passes completed. The game with the most yards so far was against the Saints. 28/38 passes, 284 yards and 3 touchdowns. Carr is playing like his first year with the Raiders.
New England Patriots: Without Brady we are fine.
The Patriots don’t miss Tom Brady. So far a defeat and a victory with Cam Newton leading the way. Things are looking good so far. Newton’s only mistake was not passing the ball on the last yard to win last week’s game. But so far Newton is seen to fit perfectly into the belichick system. The only victory was against the Miami Dolphins 21-11 and the loss against the Seahawks 30-35.
The attack is a little better than last season. The Patriots are scoring an average of 25.5 points per game, 33.50 rushes with 142 rush yards, 22.50 passes completed with 268.5 pass yards. The defense allows up to 23 points per game, 28.5 rushes and 120.5 rush yards, 20.50 passes completed and 228.50 pass yards. The Patriots are averaging as much as 5.83 points per quarter.
Cam Newton is a 10-year veteran in the NFL. As you all know, most of his career he played with the Carolina Panthers. Now with the Patriots the system is different, but it seems like it’s perfect for him. 71.43% effectiveness, 45/63 passes completed, 1 touchdown and one interception, 96.8 overall rating. Newton has run 26 times in two weeks, 122 yards and 4 touchdowns.
