This week’s Thursday Night Football will feature the Kansas City Chiefs to take on the Los Angeles Chargers in what I expect to be a high-scoring affair.
The Chiefs and the Chargers are division rivals squaring off in prime time with Playoffs and home field advantage aspirations on the line. Both teams are performing well lately, especially on the offensive side:
The Chargers have lately turned into an offensive machine averaging 34.7 points per game. They’ve scored 45, 33, and 26 points in their recent games. They rank in the top 5 in offensive rankings in the NFL, right above the mighty New England Patriots. The Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers is playing one of his best NFL seasons yet this year with a 114.5 QB rating.
The Chiefs are the top offensive juggernaut in the NFL this season. Their recent games have turned up scores of 51, 40, and 27 (against a top defense) for an average of 39.3 points per game. Their last 3 games have all gone Over the total. The Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is making a compelling case to be this year’s MVP winner. He’s on pace to break multiple NFL offensive records.
The Chiefs defense has under-performed recently, giving up 37 points per game the last three including scores of 54, 33, and 24. These two closely contested teams with high scoring potential create for a likely scenario of a shootout with the final score in the sixties or higher.
All the signs are pointing strongly toward the game to go Over the total for Thursday Night Football between these two offensive powerhouses.
My prediction: Take the Kansas City Chiefs & Los Angeles Chargers to go Over 53 on the Total.
