Alabama Crimson Tide vs. Ohio State Buckeyes, NCAAF Championship. Here is the end of the season, the most anticipated game in all of college football. But this edition is different, the coronavirus severely affected the results of many teams. But the Buckeyes with fewer than ten wins accomplished the unthinkable. Alabama is a favorite, the team played more games and showed that they are in good shape. The Buckeyes ‘weak point is Justin Fields’ injury.
Alabama Crimson Tide: The title or nothing.
The Crimson Tide has twelve wins this season. The team played against all those who could be rivals in a championship final like this one. LSU, Florida, Notre Dame, Tennessee, all were defeated by Alabama. The last victory was in the bowl against Notre Dame 31-14. He hoped to face an opponent like Clemson, but the Tigers failed against the Buckeyes and missed the opportunity for another final. The last time Alabama won the title was in 2017 against Georgia 26-23.
The team is scoring an average of 48.2 points per game in the regular season, with the first half being the most effective with 29 points on average. On neutral ground Alabama is averaging 41.5 points this year. Victory against Florida 52-46 and the other against Notre Dame. The defense is allowing only 19 points this season. Najee Harris is the leading running back with 229 rushes and 24 touchdowns.
Mac Jones is in his third year with Alabama. This is Jones’ second season with the most starter games. So far good numbers 275/357 passes completed, 77% efficiency, 4036 yards, 36 touchdowns and 4 interceptions. Jones isn’t your typical college QB with good legs, just 31 rushes to a single touchdown.
Ohio State Buckeyes: The big one.
The Buckeyes know they had some luck to make it to the championship final. But despite all the team is here today to show why they ended the Tigers on the road. The Buckeyes won just seven games during the season. The most important victory obviously came against Clemson 49-28. But overall the Buckeyes were a regular-season scoring machine. The Buckeyes have not won an NCAAF title since 2014, but last year the team was present in the playoffs.
Despite the short season the Buckeyes are scoring an average of 43.4 points per game, 25 points in the first half and 18 points in the second half. The team averages 20.1 passes completed per game, 272.3 pass yards for three touchdowns through the air. The second strong point of the Buckeyes are the rushes with 45.1 rushes per game for an average of 2.4 touchdowns. The defense allows up to 1.6 touchdowns, 22 points and 89.1 rushing yards per game.
Justin Fields is a doubt for this game. It is not yet confirmed what type of injury Fields has. But the truth is that Fields is willing to play the championship. Fields is in his third year as a junior as Ohio State QB, this season with numbers cut by the coronavirus. 141/192 passes completed, 73.4% effective, 1906 yards, 21 touchdowns with 6 interceptions.
