Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Cincinnati Bengals, Monday Night Football. Important day for the Steelers, victory is the only objective for this day. The outcome of this game is very important to the future of the Steelers in the playoffs. The Bengals aren’t really playing for anything big, but if they win tonight they could hurt the Steelers. So far the result of the Cleveland game is expected, that game will put pressure on the Steelers.
Pittsburgh Steelers: Playoffs or nothing.
The Steelers are dominating the division with 11-2-0. But the last two weeks the team went into a losing spiral. Washington 17-23 and last week 16-26 against Buffalo Bills. The Steelers need to win if they want to make the playoffs. Another loss would be lethal should the Browns win two more weeks. The team closes the regular season against the Colts and Browns.
The team is scoring an average of 26.85 points per game, 24.31 rushes with 89.08 rush yards, 26.77 passes completed for 246.46 pass yards. Conner is the number one attacking tool with 155 rushes and 663 yards for 5 touchdowns. The defense allows up to 18.23 points this season, 24.15 rushes with 100.92 rush yards and 19.46 passes completed. The on the road record is 5-1-0, the last one being a loss at Buffalo.
Ben Roethlisberger in the last game on the road suffered 10 sacks. It was the first time in six weeks without suffering a single sack. At the beginning of the season that number was normal, but the Steelers won the games. So far 345/521 passes completed, 66.22% effective, 3292 yatds, 29 touchdowns and only 9 interceptions, 94.9 overall rating.
Cincinnati Bengals: We can hurt them.
The Bengals have a negative season with just two wins in 14 weeks. The saddest thing about this season is that the team lost Joe Burrow to a knee injury (ACL). That unfortunate event was in the eleventh week. Last week the Bengals added another 30-7 loss to the Cowboys for five winless weeks. The team closes the season against Texans and Ravens.
The offense this year is lousy averaging 18.77 points per game, 24.46 rushes and 92.31 rush yards, 25.38 passes complete and 227 pass yards. Joe Mixon has a record of 119 rushes for 428 yards and just 3 touchdowns. Good numbers but few conversions. Defense allows up to 26 points per game, 28.38 rushes, and 131.92 rush yards. The only two wins of the season were at home.
Ryan Finley is the only option available for this game against the Steelers. Brandon Allen, the second choice after Burrow, is also injured. Finley has no numbers this season. Just 10/19 passes completed, 52.63% effective, 75 yards, 22.8 rating overall. Last year Finley started in three games, all losses, most at home.
