The MLB is back in action on Tuesday as the Boston Red Sox will head to the SunTrust Park in Atlanta, Georgia to clash with the Atlanta Braves in game two of a three-game series. The Red Sox will give the nod to Rick Porcello and the Braves will counter with Sean Newcomb.
Boston Red Sox Form
Boston Red Sox are probably the best team in the MLB this year. This might be seen as a bold statement for some as the Red Sox are not playing very well lately. This team has now lost 8 of their last 14 games. They need to start playing better in the next game as they do not want to go into the postseason with negative momentum. Boston has averaged 4.97 runs per game and has allowed 3.90 runs per game on the road for the year.
Rick Porcello will be playing his first game at the SunTrust Park.
On the offensive side of the game, the Red Sox are placed on the 1st spot in the league in scoring, putting up 5.39 runs per game, while also being on the 1st spot in hitting at .268 and 7th place in homers with a total of 181. On the mound, they have been very solid as they are placed on the 4th spot in the league in ERA at 3.62, while also being 8th in WHIP at 1.23 and on the 3rd place in K’s with 1327.
Atlanta Braves Form
The Atlanta Braves have been playing well this season as they are on the top spot in the National League East.
This team was able to surprise many this season as they have a solid lead over the Phillies and the Nationals. They have a solid team this year and it will be interesting to see how they will fare against the mighty Red Sox. The Braves have averaged 4.85 runs per game and have allowed 4.16 runs per game at home.
The Braves have been solid on the offensive side of the game as they are placed on the 8th spot in the league in scoring, putting up 4.74 runs per game, while also being on the 3rd spot in hitting at .260 and 17th place in homers with 152. On the mound, they have been decent in the early going as they are placed on the 6th spot in the league in ERA at 3.67 while also being on the 10th spot in WHIP at 1.26 and 9th place in K’s with 1197.
This will be an interesting game. The Braves have been playing well lately and they will head into this game with high confidence levels. On the other side, the Red Sox need to improve as they have been suffering lately. Yet, they are one of the best teams in the league and I expect them to bounce back in this game. Go for the Red Sox.
