The NBA is back in action today as Toronto Raptors will clash with the Charlotte Hornets.
The Raptors are heading into this game after a 115-105 away win over the Nets. While on the other side, the Hornets won against the Pelicans with a score of 115-109.
Toronto Raptors Form
The Raptors are one of the better teams in the league this season. Moreover, this was their fifth win in a row. And it seems like they are warming up for the playoffs. The Raptors are placed on the second spot in the Eastern Conference, 2.5 games behind the Bucks with three to play. Therefore, it seems that this Toronto team will finish at the 2nd spot in the Eastern Conference.
One the offensive side of the game, the Raptors score an average of 114.4 points per game. Therefore, this record is enough for the 7th spot in the league in scoring. Also, they have an average of 45.1 boards per game combined with 25.4 assists per night.
On the defensive side of the game, the Raptors are conceding an average of 108.4 points per night. Therefore, this record makes them the 19th defensive team in the NBA this season.
Charlotte Hornets Form
The Hornets went through a bad patch as they lost three games in a row. However, they showed some character as they managed to secure an away win in New Orleans. Right now, the Hornets are placed on the 10th spot in the Eastern Conference with 2.5 behind the Magic for the last playoff spot. Yet, they still have 4 games to play and that gives them some chance to get into the postseason mix.
One the offensive side of the game, the Hornets score an average of 110.6 points per game. Therefore, this record is enough for the 20th spot in the league in scoring. Also, they have an average of 44.1 boards per game combined with 23.1 assists per night.
On the defensive side of the game, this Charlotte team is conceding an average of 112.2 points per night. Therefore, this record makes them the 17th best defensive team in the NBA this season.
The Hornets need to win and win, in order to get a playoff spot. However, their form is not the greatest. The win in New Orleans should not be seen as something spectacular. After all, the Pelicans have nothing to play for. On the other side, the Raptors are trying to get into a perfect form for the playoffs. And it seems that they are firmly reaching that peak in form. Therefore, I will take Toronto to win this one.
