The MLB is back on Sunday as the Colorado Rockies will pay a visit to Globe Life Park in Arlington, Texas to clash with the Texas Rangers. The Rockies will start with Jon Gray and the Rangers will give the nod to Yovani Gallardo (3-4, 4.94 ERA).
Colorado Rockies Form
The Colorado Rockies started this series in a stunning way as they won with a score of-of 9-5. In that game, they were dominant as they showed their offensive firepower. However, they were not able to keep that momentum as they lost the second game with a score of 5-2. The Rockies will need to improve on the mound as they conceded 10 in the last two games. The Rockies have averaged 4.13 runs per game and have allowed 4.00 runs per game on the road so far.
Jon Gray will be playing his first game against the Texas Rangers.
On the offensive side of the game, the Rockies have some solid stats as they are placed on the 9th spot in the league in scoring, putting up 4.51 runs per game, while also holding the 15th spot in hitting at .247 and 12th place in homers with a total of 83 so far. On the mound, they have been poor so far as they are placed on the 29th spot in the league in ERA at 4.90, while also being on the 23rd spot in WHIP at 1.38 and 16th place in K’s with 588.
Texas Rangers Form
The Texas Rangers lost the first game of this series with a score of 9-5. However, it is important to mention that the Rangers had a 5-0 after the first inning. Yet, they were not able to maintain that as the Rangers came back to win the game. Nevertheless, the Rangers were able to bounce back in the second game as they won with a score of 5-2. Texas has averaged 4.49 runs per game here at home for the year.
Yovani Gallardo and he will be making his first start of the year. His record against the Rockies stands at 0-6 with a 6.14 ERA in 12 games (11 starts). Gallardo has gone 8-7 with a 3.93 ERA in 18 career starts at this field.
On the offensive side of the game, the Rangers have been in a below average form as they are placed on the 22nd spot in the league in scoring, putting up an average of 4.18 runs per game, while also holding the 27th spot in hitting at .229 and 14th place in homers with a total of 81 so far. On the mound, they have some poor stats as they are placed on the 27th spot in the league in ERA at 4.86, while also holding the 26th place in WHIP at 1.41 and 27th place in K’s with 517.
It seems that both of these teams are equal. The Rockies have been more consistent this season, while the Rangers have the ability to win at any place. They have improved in the second game as they won with a score of 5-2 and they will head into this game with a high confidence. However, I think that the Rockies have a better offence this season and I expect a solid performance by Colorado in this game. Go for to the Rockies in this one.
